SPRINGFIELD, Mo. In just a few days President Trump will be in Springfield for the second time during his presidency.
Nearly every agency, including traffic management, is getting ready for this historic visit.
The Transportation Management Center of the Ozarks has been working with Secret Service for the past few days. They're mapping out the president's route from the airport to Missouri State though they're keeping the exact route under wraps out of safety concerns.
The plan is to clear the area of traffic so the motorcade can make it the rally safely.
"We kind of have our hands tied with what we can and cannot do as far as managing traffic. If secret service says we need to shutdown a roadway we're going to do it. We're going to help them out as much as we can to do what they need. We are going to use our emergency response crews, all five of our vehicles there to help guide traffic around as far as the detours are concerned. The beauty of the city of Springfield is that you have all the alternate routes, the smaller streets that people can get around, get around the detour," said Marc Lewis with Missouri Department of Transportation.
You'll want to keep a watch out for traffic light changes and detour signs around the Missouri State Campus and parts of downtown Springfield this Friday.
