Two arrested after pursuit during truck theft investigation

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-- A man and woman were both arrested after a pursuit through the Springfield area, Thursday.

Shaelynne Wilson, 27, has been charged with stealing the work vehicle and Tyler Brewer, 29, has been arrested in connection say Missouri State Highway Patrol.

J.W. DeLong, one of the owners of DeLong Plumbing says his employees were on a job sight, going in and out of a building. When they returned outside a final time, the truck was missing.

DeLong says one of his workers left his keys in a cup holder, but is grateful the truck had a GPS system to locate the suspects.

He says their office dispatcher quickly dialed 911. DeLong says using the GPS they were able to help police locate the vehicle. That's when the suspects are said to have fled law enforcement.

"They chased them down 65 highway, the people had informed us the people were calling in and threatening to go into on-coming traffic," said DeLong.

Trooper Sam Carpenter, with The Missouri State Highway Patrol, says they were able to deflate all but one tire with five different spike strips.

Trooper Carpenter says once their air patrol spotted the truck overhead, they stopped their pursuit.

Multiple agencies assisted in the pursuit. Both thieves were arrested, but Trooper Carpenter says an arrest was made because of the team work displayed by everyone.

As for the man who left the keys in the vehicle, DeLong says accidents happen. He says he plans to repair the truck and hopefully get it back out in service soon.
