The Kitchen opens new emergency shelter for homeless

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Kitchen's brand new emergency shelter campus is the first part of a 2 phase project.. The organization's staff is really excited because they say - it's going to help them take their mission of bringing stability and purpose to the people who are homeless in Springfield,to the next level.

The new O'Reilly Family campus is at the corner of Glenstone and Chestnut Expressway. Inside, you'll find 14 apartments that will house homeless single women, kids and families. There's also a fully loaded laundry room with brand new washing machines, and lots of computer and internet access. And outside, a big playground and picnic tables, as well as even a place for pets so their owners don'tt have to give them up in order to find housing.
