Taney County Sheriff: Inmates refuse lockdown Monday, jail staff intervenes

FORSYTH, Mo. -- Taney County Sheriff Jimmie Russell says some inmates in the jail refused to go on lock down on Monday.

"[It was in] one pod area that had approximately 12 individuals that refused to lock down," Sheriff Russell said. "We went in and removed the ones that refused to comply."

Russell says "this is not an unusual occurrence for any jail." He also says there were no injuries to inmates or officers involved.

KY3/KSPR News has received several reports from Taney County residents, some of which have family members inside the jail, about the incident.

“It was because they don't like rules," Russell said.
