Flash flooding caused the roadside to collapse and slide down the hill on the Lake Taneycomo side of Route 76. There is no damage to the pavement or any part of the Route 76 road surface.
Drivers are urged to use alternate routes including Route 65 and Route 160 to get around the closed section of Route 76. Route 76 will remain closed until MoDOT crews can stabilize the Taneycomo bank with rock.
First, though, Liberty Utilities is working to stabilize power lines in the area. The landslide snapped off power poles and left them hanging from the lines.
MoDot hopes to have the roadside repaired by sometime Saturday.
The road closure will impact drivers who are coming into Branson from Forsyth and Kirbyville to Branson or Hollister.
Branson also reported high water on Fall Creek and Roark Valley Roads. City staff evacuated part of the campground along Lake Taneycomo.
