Strong storms cause damage in parts of Taney County

HOLLISTER, Mo. Several reports of storm damage have been made after a round of severe weather hit Taney County.

The area near State Highway BB and Saint James Street, in downtown Hollister had some of the worst. The strong winds ripped trees from the ground, tore down power lines and blew siding off of buildings.

A family owned business spent most of the day cleaning up damage.

Jeremy Verjraska, owner of B & L Power Equipment, said that they are prepared for floods but nothing like strong winds. He wants the community to be understanding.

"I guess just be patient, let us figure it out. I mean we're a family too. I realize that we have property that belongs to other people down here but we're going to take care of everybody the way we can," he said.

Verjraska said the damage only seems to be structural, no equipment or property inside the business was destroyed.
