SPRINGFIELD, Mo. Hundreds of kids in Springfield will go back to school looking sharp thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers.
The Springfield Council PTA Clothing Bank opened its doors Tuesday.
For the past 40 years, donations from the community and volunteers have supported families in need.
Kids got to pick out clothes and basic necessities.
The Kiwanis Club took care of the shoes, giving each child two pair.
"If you would talk to the families standing in line today you would understand that they don't have another choice. This is where their kids need to come in order to have school clothes for tomorrow. When these kids go to school they can sit there with pride, just like the kids next to them. It's really important. Self-esteem is huge. This puts a little of their self-esteem back. I'm thrilled to be able to do that," said Springfield Council PTA Clothing Bank Co-Chair, Patty Dunn.
The organization serves kids in Springfield Schools all year round.
