Soldier surprises son at school in Harrison, Ark.

HARRISON, Ark. - After 10 months overseas, First Sergeant Edward Kendall came home.

His unsuspecting and overwhelmed son, Andrew, got a big surprise when his dad walked through the doors of the Forest Heights Elementary School cafeteria.

Kendall is in the U.S. Army, and served our country in Afghanistan.

One of the first things Kendall wanted to do when he got to Harrison is see all of his family, and he didn’t want to wait for his son to come home from school.

“The anticipation trying to do something exciting for him at school," Kendall said.

Andrew proudly showed his dad off to students and teachers.

Kendall said it’s great seeing his child’s expression when he walked through the door.

“I did that when I came home the first time and surprised Jacob at kindergarten, so I figured I’d do the same thing to Andrew," Kendall said.

He hadn’t even been home yet.

“I just now got back. It’s exciting and I’m ready to spend some time with my family," he said.

The first thing he wants to do when he gets home is meet his new puppy.

Andrew said they have big plans when they get home: Play video games.

Kendall said he’ll be home with his family for “a while," and is excited to spend time with them.
