REPUBLIC, Mo. -- Police arrested four teenagers for throwing a push-mower into the Republic Aquatic Center.
The incident happened Sunday morning. Workers discovered someone had broken into the facility and pushed the lawnmower into the deep-end of the swimming pool. Gasoline and oil from the mower seeped into the water. Surveillance video captured the four on camera.
The pool closed Sunday and Monday for cleanup. Republic Parks Department officials estimated cleanup and losses from the closure added up to $7,200. Operations at the pool returned to normal Friday.
Greene County Juvenile Justice Center officers interviewed three young men and one young woman. They all could face charges of trespassing. Two others could face property damage. Because they are juveniles, the city will not release the ages or names.
