SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Nearly two dozen protested the United State's recent conflicts in the Middle East. They protested at Old City Hall Sunday afternoon.

Ryan Minor who is a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation says the United States should leave the Middle East.

He says the protestors are condemning the recent escalations by the Trump administration.

Minor says we should not have killed an Iranian leader.

United States Senator, Josh Hawley says he was in favor of the strike against the general of Iran.

"I am genuinely in favor of killing terrorists, especially ones that murder American soldiers and plot against American civilians like Solemani did, but nobody wants a war with Iran and I thought the Presidents statement after the attack and after the Iranian response like listen we are going to be tough, we are going to respond if we are attacked and they attacked our embassy, but our bottom line here is to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon," said Hawley.

"If Hawley didn't really want war he would ask for an end to the sanctions because these are aggression and they are seen as aggression by the international community as large and both Iran and Iraq which are the victims of this event," said Minor.

President Trump added new sanctions against Iran after the country attacked a U.S. base in Iraq. The missile attack followed the killing of Iran's top military general.
