Owners replacing fire-damaged Springfield McDonald's with new one

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Owners of a Springfield McDonald's damaged by fire in July announce they will replace it with a new restaurant.

Ozarks McDonald's spokeswoman Kristen Bergman says demo work will begin in early April at the Sunshine and Campbell restaurant. The new McDonald's will open sometime in mid-summer 2019.

Firefighters say the fire likely started in mulch outside the restaurant. The fire damaged both the inside and outside of the building. The restaurant never reopened because of the damage.
