FAIR GROVE, Mo. (KY3/KSPR) - The Fair Grove Fire Department responded to a fire at a home off of State Highway KK, just west of Farm Road 171, just before midnight on Tuesday.
When firefighters arrived, a woman was outside the home. She told firefighters a man was trapped inside. Fair Grove Fire Chief Erich Higgins said that man later died.
“The house is a total loss," said Chief Higgins.
Higgins explained extra tankers were brought in to help fight the flames. Crews came in from Logan-Rogersville and Willard to help put the fire out. Higgins said it took approximately three hours to put out the fire.
“The sheriff’s office has taken over the death investigation and has control of the scene now," said Higgins.
Investigators will return to the home Wednesday to search for a cause.
