New Broadway-style musical begins at Silver Dollar City

A new show at Silver Dollar City debuted on June 8.

Reuben's Swashbuckling Adventure is a $1 million, Broadway-style musical at the Opera House.

It's a show for people young and old as it brings to life the journey of a boy determined to find his destiny.

There's lots of singing, dancing, and even interaction with the audience. It’s only about 30 minutes in length, so even kids can enjoy the production.

AJ Turner plays Reuben in the musical and explains how the story begins with a boy’s imagination through reading.

"I have a dream about going into my favorite book,” AJ Turner said.

The man who plays the other main character, Captain Long John Silver, says the show brings to life the journey with beautiful sets and creative choreography.

“It's all about how [Reuben] is transported to these various lands and worlds,” Actor Jeremy Brown said. “It starts with pirates. We go into a really colorful world in a jungle."

Reuben's Swashbuckling Adventure will run throughout Star-Spangled Summer and Moonlight Madness. There are three shows daily throughout the week and four shows on Saturdays.
