National Weather Service expands Winter Storm Warning the Ozarks

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Ozarks could soon see its biggest blast of winter weather in several years.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning Watch for several counties east and north of Springfield from Friday afternoon into Saturday evening. The counties include Camden, Dent, Hickory, Laclede, Maries, Miller, Morgan, Phelps, Pulaski, Shannon, Texas Webster and Wright.

Up to eight inches of snow is possible in the eastern Ozarks. The Springfield-metro area could see up to three inches of snow. Light freezing rain accumulations are possible too. The winter weather could make travel hazardous in these areas.
