TRAFFIC ALERT: MoDOT warns drivers about construction coming soon on U.S. 65 in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- MoDOT is again beginning work on U.S. 65 in Springfield.

Crews will eventually widen U.S. 65 to six lanes between Springfield and Ozark. However, crews first must work on improvements to the Evans Road Bridge.

MoDOT will close the bridge April 1. Road crews will replace the bridge deck, or driving service, and replace some steel on the bridge. As they are removing the old surface, crews will re-route traffic from U.S. 65 up over the exit ramps. And drivers on Evans Road will not access the ramps. That will happen the nights of April 1 through 3. Drivers then will will only be able to make right turns at the exit at Evans Road.

Construction crews will set up detours in the area to ease traffic concerns.

The work will affect many in this area, including the Millwood subdivision and the Mercy Orthopedic and Rehabilitation hospitals.
