Firefighters investigate early morning car fires in Springfield neighborhood

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Springfield Fire Department has launched an investigation into three car fires early Saturday morning. Firefighters were originally dispatched around 5:00 a.m. to the 800 block of west Ildereen, just west of Grant; the same neighborhood where three other car fires were set earlier this month.

The fire department was also on the scene of a car fire at Forest Park Apartments on Grand Street, near Kansas Expressway.

The investigation is ongoing for the car fires in both locations. The fire marshal will determine if the car fires throughout the month are connected.

Investigators believe the fires were set by someone who knows the area. Firefighters say if you have a garage, you might want to park your car inside.
