Endangered person advisory for missing Springfield man cancelled

UPDATED: 7:00 p.m. CST:

The Springfield Police Department has cancelled an endangered person advisory for 26 year old Zachary Allen Schmitz.

Zachary was found safe in Oklahoma.

Zachary Allen Schmitz is a white male, and is 5 feet, six inches tall. He weighs 187 pounds, and has black hair, hazel eyes, medium complexion, wearing a tie-dyed t-shirt, black shiny pants, and black “Jordan” shoes.

The Springfield Police Department says the advisory was issued after an incident in the 3400 block of east Lombard street in Springfield that occurred early Saturday morning.

The department says Schmitz has special needs and is unable to take care of himself. They also say Schmitz is schizophrenic and bi-polar, and left the residence without any medications to control hallucinations.

Schmitz made suicidal statements before leaving the location on foot.

If you see Schmitz or believe you know his whereabouts, you are asked to dial 911.
