Deputy hospitalized after crash in Camden County; other driver injured

NEAR OSAGE BEACH, Mo. -- A Camden County deputy is hospitalized in a Columbia after a crash on Route MM near Horseshoe Bend Parkway.

Sheriff Tony Helms says the deputy was responding to a domestic call when another car pulled out in front of the deputy. The deputy swerved but ended up rolling the cruiser.

Initially, Helms said the deputy had complained about back soreness. The deputy was taken to Lake Regional for evaluation. Helms says the deputy has possible fractured vertebrae.

The other driver suffered minor injuries.
