Britain's Rose wins golf gold; first Olympic golf since 1904

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) Golf has its first Olympic champion in 112 years.

Britain's Justin Rose and Sweden's Henrick Stenson dueled for the gold with Rose coming out on top. They were tied for first at 15-under after 17 holes and Rose, the winner of the 2013 U.S. Open, birdied the hole while Stenson had a bogey. American Matt Kuchar finished third to win the bronze.

It was the first time golf had been a part of the Olympic Games since the 1904 games in St. Louis.
