SPRINGFIELD, Mo. Springfield-based Harter House Supermarkets raised $86,000 for The Kitchen, Inc. during the 19th annual Jerry Bettlach/Jim Trimble Memorial fundraiser.
From March 2 to 8, all six stores in Springfield, Nixa, Strafford, Kimberling City and Hollister donated 5 percent of total sales to The Kitchen, Inc. Donations were also made by vendors, friends and family. On Wednesday, a check was presented by owners Barbara Bettlach, Andrew Bettlach and Michele Kauffman.
“[The Kitchen, Inc.] does incredible work for at-risk and homeless individuals in our community. We are always excited to partner with the organization and help them to achieve their mission of preventing and ending homelessness,” said Kauffman.
The fundraiser started 19 years ago after the passing of Jerry Bettlach and Jim Trimble, both of whom were part of the Harter House family and strong supporters of The Kitchen, Inc.
“They knew the money raised for The Kitchen would go directly to help those in need, just as it does today,” said Barbara Bettlach.
In its first year, the event netted $5,000 and has since grown tremendously.
