Meet Raquel Harrington.
Raquel Harrington joined the KY3/KSPR news team in September of 2018, as a Multimedia Journalist.
A proud native of Michigan, a state most known as the automotive capital of the world and peculiar four seasons. Growing up in the suburbs of Detroit, Raquel, enjoyed sledding and making snow angels with her family. Compelled by seasonal changes, Raquel, developed a love for capturing breathless moments with a click of a button. She jumps at opportunities to explore new places, and has a genuine passion for sharing people stories.
Following her love of snow and visual storytelling, Raquel ventured north to Mt. Pleasant Michigan, where she graduated from Central Michigan University, with a Bachelors in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts and a minor in Media Design, Production, and Technology. Fire Up Chips! While at Central, Raquel worked for News Central 34, an award-winning student broadcast news station. Her experience with News Central enabled her to provide a platform for those that were unheard and unseen; ultimately, finding her purpose in Journalism.
Immersing herself into the field of Production and Journalism, Raquel set to conquer Dublin, Ireland. Where she challenged her passion by simultaneously interning as a Production Intern at New Decade Production Company, and a Social Media/Photographer for Setanta Sports Broadcasting. During this time Raquel helped produced a popular returning TV series and covered prominent news in Europe.
Her curiosity to explore, afforded her the opportunity to report in Michigan's state capitol, Lansing. Raquel worked as a Multimedia Journalist for the local Government Access channel HOMTV. Tenaciously, she further developed how reporting news and story lines impacted the Lansing community. Fostering relationships with local community members played a vital role in her purpose as a journalist .
In transition from Lansing and reporting for KY3/KSPR, Raquel honed her love of photography and visual story telling with Lifetouch Photography Company. Yet, her abiding passion for reporting led her here, to the Ozark’s. Raquel is excited to start her career at KY3/KSPR and to bring forth her love of reporting, visual storytelling and exploration.
A journalist job is never done, yet, you can catch Raquel at the movies watching the latest films, exploring the Ozarks with her camera in hand, or sampling new hot tea flavors around town. Although there isn't much snow, Raquel is excited to call the Ozarks her new home.
