Meet Christine Morton.
Christine Morton joined the KY3/KSPR newsteam in September 2018 as a Multimedia Journalist. She is a former high school Spanish and English teacher from Philadelphia, PA, who recently changed her career. She describes herself as a world traveler as she has been to more than 9 countries and lived in Spain twice, a make-up enthusiast, and a passionate story-teller.
Before entering the journalism field, Christine taught for 3 years in Philadelphia where she grew up. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Education and Spanish with a minor in English from La Salle University. While she is a huge fan of exposing teens to the Spanish culture through conversational projects, food, and movies from Spanish-speaking countries she realized she wasn't fulfilling her life-long dream of becoming a journalist.
As a result, Christine quit her teaching career leaving behind her pension and summers off to serve her community in a different way. Recently, Christine graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Her time at Newhouse led her to cover the mayoral election in Syracuse for WAER 88.3 FM, report on the Gaza Strip and Syrian Border in Israel, and report as a correspondent for Salt Lake City, Utah (KTVX) on Capital Hill in Washington D.C. Christine was also part of the New York AP award-winning morning newscast, "Mornings on the Hill" at Syracuse University where she was an anchor and reported the weather and news.
Christine is a huge Philly sports fan, but is excited to begin her career change in the Ozark's! She loves to pursue character driven stories, investigating the truth and asking the tough questions. But, on Christine's days off, you can find her kickboxing, listening to audio-books, or finding new places to explore.
