Meet KY3's Andrew Havranek.
Andrew is an award winning journalist who joined the KY3/KSPR News Team in October 2017 as the Lake of the Ozarks Bureau Reporter.
He got his start as a reporter, weekend anchor, and morning and noon anchor/producer at our sister station, WDTV, in Clarksburg, W.Va.
As the reporter at the Lake of the Ozarks, Andrew covers stories in Camden, Pulaski, Hickory, and Benton Counties. He also covers state politics and is often found at the Missouri Capitol during the legislative session.
In 2018, Andrew covered the scandals that plagued Missouri's then-Governor Eric Greitens from the moment the news of an extramarital affair broke, through the criminal and legislative investigations, until the moments Greitens resigned and Mike Parson was sworn in as the state's 57th governor.
His coverage of Greitens' scandal-plagued second year in office was given a "Bronze Award" by the Kansas City Press Club in 2019.
Before starting at KY3/KSPR, Andrew was recognized by the West Virginia Broadcasters Association as the best photojournalist in the state in 2015, and in 2016 and 2017 he was recognized for having the best AM Newscast in the WV.
Andrew is, what he calls, a total "yinzer." If you don't know what that means, it means he's from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He is a huge Pittsburgh sports fan, cheering for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Steelers, and Pirates. (He says he'll also root for the St. Louis Blues, as long as they're not playing the Penguins).
He graduated from Duquesne University in 2014 with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and Journalism. Duquesne is the only college team he has a die-hard allegiance to.
When not chasing stories, Andrew likes to golf, swim, and travel. He and his family take vacations every year together, mostly to Key West or Las Vegas. He also is a musical theatre fan, and a drummer.
Andrew is always looking for story ideas for the Lake of the Ozarks region. If you have any ideas, feel free to email him at email@example.com, or reach out to him on Facebook and Twitter!
