Katniss Everdeen
Carina: According to my sources, the casting director is on the prowl for a Caucasian Katniss, but I don't think there's anyone for the role better than Malese Jow. You might know her as Zuckerberg's hook-up from "The Social Network," but her best work has been on "The Vampire Diaries," as Anna. She's a dynamic actress with the skills to sell romance, vulnerability, and the ability to fight convincingly. Plus, she looks younger than Fonseca, which will make the stakes higher -- and she'll still be believable in the role once the almost-inevitable third film rolls around. Another great thing about Malese? She's a die-hard fan of the series, so she'll be passionately committed to getting Katniss right.
Tierney: On The CW's "Nikita," Lyndsy Fonseca is pitch-perfect as a young woman with a score to settle and proves to have that rough edge needed to portray a natural survivor. While she is 23, I think Fonseca can still pull off playing 16. Another thing going for her? She is actually being considered for the role.
