The roof was ripped off of one of the apartment buildings in within the Viking Apartment complex just north of Sunshine St, east of Glenstone Ave during what appeared to be a tornado on May 8, 2009. I watched as the strong straight-line winds stopped blowing from the west and became suddenly still. I looked to the southwest and saw what appeared to be a be a swirling vortex of water withing a half a block from my apartment building. I herded people who were standing with me into my downstairs, basement apartment as the winds hit the building. It shuddered and shook for about 15 to 20 seconds then stopped just as suddenly as it came. Within a few minutes, the winds continued from the west, but we could see the pieces of wood and roofing in raining down from the sky. We started noticing water pouring into the upstairs apartments and found out that our roof had been peeled from our building. We also have many trees down and even had one of our outdoor charcoal grills, which is cemented into the ground, blown over. If you look at the picture of the trees down, you can see the grill leaning forward at the right side of the picture. It also ripped our pool cover off of the pool. The cover was held with more than 20 canvas straps, of which, over half of them were ripped in two. I am convinced that it was definately a tornado due to the sudden change in directions of the wind and the calm both before and after it hit the building. The damage isn't just laying in one direction, either. It is strewn all over the place and laying in many different directions.
