Calm & Cool.

By KSPR Weather

Good Morning!

I hope everyone had a beautiful weekend...after the bumpy start on Saturday (if you were out of town...we're talking RAIN)

Sunday afternoon I had the pleasure of being out at the 2008 St. Jude Dream Home, I made a comment to Kyle and Kevin that it was a little cool.  In fact, yesterday's high was only 78.  (we are normally 10 degrees warmer)  For your Monday expect temps. to be a little warmer, but still below average.

For the next few days our weather pattern is quite calm.  The change-up comes Thursday into Friday.  Rain on your 4th of July never sounds good (and it seems the past few years that's what we've forecasted)  The 4th is still a few days out, but here is what the GFS shows for Friday.

A bull's-eye on Southwest Missouri/North Arkansas is never good when we're more than 20" over on rainfall for the first 6 months of 2007.

We've heard a lot of flood talk in the news lately, flood plains, levees, crest, and so on.  If you're like me, you may not be completely familiar on what everything means.  So here is your useful "did you know" of the day.

Levee: known as a dike in European countries, a levee is basically a bank or slope that runs parallel to a river.  A levee can be either natural or man made.  When a levee can't hold the water and part of it breaks, it is called a levee breach.  (in 2005 we heard a lot of talk of levees breaking because of Hurricane Katrina)

Here is a picture of a man made levee breach from Katrina:

Have a blessed and beautiful Monday!
