Hello everyone. Thanks for coming by the KSPR weather blog. It sure has been a nice day with very warm temperatures but expect storms to begin to fire up very soon. We are also watching another strong system for Sunday and Monday. Lets get to the details.
It is quick and easy and it is free and you can be involved with our weather chat.
Take a look at high temps we have seen for today! Whoh baby!
A look at dewpoints below.
Here is a look at the cold front position at 3pm.
With readings like this we definitely have some instability out there, but we have also had a bit of a weak cap over the atmosphere. As the cold front arrives that cap is expected to break, and storms will break out later this evening.
Here is a look at CAPE from the RUC model. It show a quick rise to about 1300 j/kg. This is moderate CAPE.
Moderate wind shear is also available, helicity values are moderate as well up around 300 at times.
SPC Day 1 outlook has us in the slight risk area as seen below.
The main threat looks to be large hail and damaging winds, as tornado threat looks to be fairly low right now.
These storms will end by Friday morning across the area.
Friday night looks dry along with most of Saturday, but our next systems begins to move in late on Saturday and last through Monday as a slow moving system once again will bring heavy rain to the Ozarks.
Below is a look at temp. and dew point through Monday. The red line is temp, the green line is dewpoints.
As you can see instability looks to be rather high for the late weekend system as well.
The main threat will be with more flooding. Models are once again showing a good 2"-5" swath of heavy rain.

Hi Kevin,
I was wondering what the pollen count is today, and is there a website that I can find eveydays count at?
Thanks
Christi

I'm a little late on posting my report for last night, but better late than never right? We received dime size hail and 3/4 of an inch of rain.

I can't log into the weather chat because it won't load, but even though the storm watch is over, it's still hailing in the area of Fantastic Caverns at the site where the phone cable was stolen (my husband is an AT&T technician working out there). The hail is sporadic but it's still pouring rain down out there.

Hi Karen, sorry, just saw your message. Yes, about 5:30 or so, we had a strong cell with loud, deep thunder, lightening and a pretty good rain go through. Nothing since then. Looking at the map, I can see cells all around us, but they probably will go north and south of us like they usually do. Lot of red in them, so they are pretty intense. I didn't see that the room was open-will try to catch it next time. Is that the only time it will accept password guys? TTYL Friend, Val
