  • Thurs. 8:45 am: Rainy & Cool

    A very happy Thursday!

On  KSPR News This Morning we find that Thursday is the hardest day of the week to get up and at 'em.  To compound the problem, when it's raining and cool... it makes it a day that you just want to sleep in!   This Thursday will be much like Wednesday.  Cool, cloudy, and dreary.  Before we look ahead, let's take a look at Wednesday's highs:

In my opinion, the red coloring really throws you off and makes you think that the temperatures were a little warmer than what they really were.  Springfield reached a high in the mid-70's, average is 89 degrees.  You can expect temperatures to be much the same for Thursday.

Currently there is an upper level low in northern Arkansas that will weaken into a trough as it lifts northeast into the Ozarks.  We can expect a few scattered showers produced by this, but mainly another dreary, misty, cool day.

The best chance for rain today will be east of the HWY 65 corridor (much like yesterday).  The showers popping up in central Arkansas are taking a northeast track.

All in all, don't expect a toad-strangler today.... however, you probably should get used to the active set-up through the weekend.

The above map is Saturday's set-up.  Notice the cold front entering northern Kansas and the chance of rain on the leading edge of the front.  That cold front will bring rain chances to the Ozarks as well.  Also, look at the L stationed over northwest Florida.  The remnants of hurricane Fay could also aid in more rain to our area on Saturday and Sunday.

Ok, I'm out of here.  Please have a wonderful Thursday!  So close to the weekend.
