Kokomo woman critically injured after driving into pond

Beth Leonard, 51, was traveling northbound on Albright Road when she drove off the east side of the road and into a nearby retention pond.

A Kokomo woman was critically injured after she drove into a retention pond Friday.

It happened around 6:25 p.m. on Albright Road near Colter Drive.

According to officials, Beth Leonard, 51, was traveling northbound on Albright Road when she drove off the east side of the road and into a nearby retention pond.

Firefighters were able to eventually free Leonard. She was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis were she is listed in critical condition.

Investigators said they believe a medical issue could have contributed to the crash.
