Country trio Lady Antebellum announced Tuesday that they will hold a special event for Henryville High School students as a part of their "Own The Prom Night Contest."
Henryville High School was partially destroyed by a tornado in early March. Students submitted a video to the band, requesting they perform at their prom. Several other schools also submitted their own videos, asking the band to perform for Henryville students.
The band released the following statement:
"After carefully reviewing each submission, the trio unanimously chose the community of Henryville, IN for their story, resilience and unity following devastating tornadoes earlier this month.
"Not only was their own submission moving, but schools across the country spontaneously submitted videos campaigning on behalf of Henryville High School in support of Henryville receiving the special concert, including the winning submission from Silver Creek High School."
The trio won't be able to perform at Henryville High School's scheduled prom due to a previously scheduled commitment. The band will instead host a special event May 16 in Louisville, Ky. A benefit for the school will immediately follow the event.
