Columbus North High School student allegedly brings gun to school

According to Jim Morton of the Columbus Police Department, a 19-year-old high school student is in custody after he brought a gun to school.

According to Matt Myers of the Columbus Police Department, a 19-year-old high school student was detained after he allegedly brought a gun to school.

At around 9:30 AM, Columbus North High School officials called 911 after multiple students told them a student showed them a handgun.  School officials could not find the student.  The student has a welding class at north but attends Columbus East for the rest of his classes.

So Columbus North officials called Columbus East and school officials there found the student in class and detained him until police arrived.

Both schools were put on lockdown for about a half hour.  Police are still searching both schools for the weapon.
