Customers may notice less chlorine odor in tap water

Many Citizens Water customers have complained of a chlorine odor in their tap water since January.

Indianapolis

Many Citizens Water customers have complained of a chlorine odor in their tap water since January.  Now, the company said the odor will begin fading since their annual water quality maintenance program is complete.

Citizens Water said customers noticed the chlorine odor because of a change in the type of chlorine used to disinfect the water.  The test is conducted every year in order to maintain high-water quality in the distribution system, according to the company.

The company will return to using the normal type of chlorine beginning Tuesday. However, it may take a few days for some customers to not notice the odor.
