  17. Vehicle hits pole on Route 281

    The driver of this sport utility vehicle was injured when the car spun out of control on a slush-covered roadway and struck a utility pole. The accident happened at 11:20 a.m. Monday on Route 281 near Challenge Hill Road in Somerset Township. State police said the driver, a juvenile from Friedens whose name and age were not released, suffered a minor injury. The passenger, a child, was not hurt. Police said the driver was traveling too fast for the conditions. The Somerset Volunteer Fire Department and Somerset Area Ambulance assisted at the scene.

    One person was injured when a truck drove into a creek along Lambertsville Road in Shanksville at 6:29 p.m. Thursday, according to Somerset County Control.
