Gun purchase leads to fight in Hays

A disagreement over a handgun leads to a fight in Hays.

Hays police say officers went to check the report of a disturbance in the 200 blk. of W. 7th on Jan. 31. When officers arrived, they found a pool of blood and a blood trail.


Investigators say a man tried to buy a 9mm handgun from another person. A disagreement over the price led to a confrontation. The victim suffered head and facial injuries.

Police arrested the suspect on suspicion of aggravated battery and felony possession of a firearm. He was also cited for disorderly conduct for a separate incident shortly after the botched sale.
