  1. Joplin Tornado Survivors React to Investigation of Firefighters Possible Looting

    Joplin police are investigating if three firefighters looted the night of the Joplin EF-5 tornado. On June 9, the Baxter Springs, Kansas Fire Department met for its regularly scheduled meeting. The fire department fired three employees for “the disregard of departmental policies and guidelines for conduct displayed during relief efforts in the aftermath of the May 22, 2011 tornado in Joplin,” Baxter Springs Mayor Jenifer Bingham wrote in an issued statement.
