  5. Second Man Charged In Killing of 17-Year-Old Kenny Stout

    Two men are facing charges for the death of 17-year-old Kenny Stout. Christopher A. Jorgensen and Nathan W. Jensen are charged with first degree murder, armed criminal action and abandonment of a corpse. The Douglas County Sheriff questioned three persons of interest on Thursday. Family and friends reported Stout missing on December 13 after he did not answer phone calls and texts. After a lengthy interview with Jensen, investigators found Stout's body in a wooded area near the Ava Country Club around 4:30 Thursday morning.

    A judge sentenced Frankie Maybee, 20, and Sean Popejoy, 19, both of Green Forest, Arkansas, for their roles in committing federal hate crimes. They are the first defendants to be sentenced under the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, enacted in October 2009.

    The family of a former camper that is suing Kanakuk Kamp is asking a judge for a restraining order against the camp, it’s CEO Joe White and former director Pete Newman. Since appearing in the case, the family says Joe White and the camp have contacted them by mail, telephone and email despite repeated requests to not contact them. The family is suing the camp because they say camp leaders failed to prevent the molestation of their son even though there were warning signs. They are suing under the names John and Jane Doe.
