Aberdeen: The Mass of Christian burial for Walter Ronald Ron Hartman, 68, of Aberdeen will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Revs. Kevin Zilverberg and David Janes as Celebrants.
Ron died Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab of cancer.
Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, S.D.
Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, with a wake service and rosary at 6 p.m. at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen.
Walter Ronald Hartman was born on July 5, 1942, to Walter J. Burly and Madeline (Ochs) Hartman in Aberdeen.
Ron attended Sacred Heart Parochial and Aberdeen Central School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1960 and served his time in Fort Ord, Calif., and Alaska. He was honorably discharged in 1962. He was proud of his military service.
He married Mary Ann Dosch July 11, 1964, in Aberdeen, and they moved to California in 1965. His career was as an electrician in commercial construction. He loved hunting, cooking and traveling throughout the U.S. He had a great sense of humor and was well liked by all who knew him. He was a member of the American Legion.
Ron is survived by his daughter, Kristi (Paul) Narducci, Antioch, Calif.; and son, Mark (Katie) Hartman, Hollister, Calif. Also surviving are parents, Walter Burly and Madeline Hartman of Aberdeen; two sisters, Karen Kost, Mitchell, and Diane Beck, Bradenton, Fla.; his four grandchildren, Nicholas and Tiffany Narducci, Michael John Hartman and Luke Rollins.
Ron was preceded in death by his niece, Amy Kost.
