After the council passed the Wal-Mart rezoning ordinance weeks ago, residents got a petition to force the council to repeal it or send it to a vote.

Almost two years to the day an EF5 tornado killed 161 people in Joplin the city is once again under a severe weather threat and watching as nearby Moore, Oklahoma, copes with a similar tragedy.

The city of Joplin knows all too well what the people in Moore, Oklahoma, are going through Monday night, from the fear to the tremendous heartbreak. Emotions were already running high leading up to the two year anniversary of the EF5 tornado that killed 161, and now this--plus the continued threat of severe weather. People in Joplin are hurting all over again.
