24th Ranked Lady Crusaders Improve to 4-0

Springfield, Mo. – Evangel held off a strong second half run by John Brown University for a 65-57 win at the Ashcroft Center Tuesday.

The Lady Crusaders (4-0) led 37-21 at the half, but the Golden Eagles (2-2) chipped away at the lead and pulled within one with the score 57-56 with a little more than three minutes remaining. Evangel closed out the game connecting all 10 of their second half free throw attempts to put the game out of reach.

Eagles forward Ashley Taylor had 22 points to lead all scorers and pulled down 10 rebounds. Evangel was led by Kelsie Hargus and Ashlee Luko who scored 14 points each. Caitlin Russell was also in double figures with 11.

Evangel’s next games will be this weekend in the Emporia State Classic. The Crusaders face Missouri Southern Friday at 5:30 p.m. then take on Emporia State Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
