By KSPR Sports

Missouri State sophomore righthander Tim Clubb has been named the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league office Wednesday.
Clubb was brilliant against a Middle Tennessee offense that ranked ninth nationally in scoring, hit .339 and slugged .553 entering Friday’s game, hurling a complete-game four-hit 2-0 shutout for the baseball Bears.
The Blue Raiders managed just four singles, advanced only one of six baserunners beyond first base all game, and never had more than one runner on base at the same time. Clubb, a Eureka, Mo., native retired the last eight hitters of the game, handing Middle Tennessee its first shutout of the season. He fanned three and walked two in the game, becoming the first MSU pitcher to start 9-0 since 2001.
Clubb has pitched at least seven innings in his last eight starts, leads the MVC with 88 innings pitched and has a 2.56 ERA in 2008. He carries a 3.30 GPA in advertising and promotions.
