Rogersville defeats Bolivar, 62-38

REPUBLIC, Mo. -- The fourth-seeded Logan Rogersville Wildcats opened up the Class 4 District 11 Boys Basketball Tournament at Republic with a statement win Tuesday night, as the Wildcats thrashed Bolivar 62-38 to advance to Thursday night's semifinals.

Joe Young and Dylan Cole led the Wildcats to the win as they were two of three Wildcats to score in double figures on the night.  The game was closely contested in the first quarter, as Rogersville only held a 10-6 lead over the Bolivar Liberators.  Coach Rod Gorman's Wildcat squad would open up the game in the second quarter, however, as the Cats would outscore Bolivar 19-7 and take a commanding 29-13 lead going into halftime.

The game would get no better for the Liberators in the third quarter, as Rogersville's Dylan Cole would have a fantastic quarter which included a nice breakaway dunk.  The Cats would dominate the third quarter, as they outscored Bolivar 20-14 to take a comfortable 49-27 going into the fourth quarter.

Coach Rod Gorman's team would not let up in the fourth quarter, as their defensive intensity did not allow Bolivar to mount any sort of comeback.  Rogersville would close out the game and secure the comfortable 62-38 victory to end the Bolivar Liberators' season.

Rogersville improved to 20-7 on the year, adding yet another 20 win season to Coach Rod Gorman's impressive record at Logan-Rogersville.  Joe Young led the Cats with 18 points, Dylan Cole added 12, and Colton Woods scored 11.

For Bolivar, Chance Rash scored 11 and David Harris added 9.

Rogersville advanced to play the number one-seeded Republic Tigers, coached by Gary Stanfield, at 6:00 p.m. Thursday night.
