When talking to many of the coaches in the Ozark Conference, they say they're talent is young.
Kickapoo is the same, having graduated 22-seniors from the 2011 squad, the Chiefs have 13 seniors reporting for camp in 2012.
"We have a lot of spots to fill," Chiefs head coach Joel Wells said. "We have talented kids, but we don't know who's going to play where on Friday night."
Rather than stressing over the numbers-game, Wells is excited to see the competition in camp produce young men ready to take over Chiefs football.
While the offense only has three returning starters, one of Kickapoo's strength is at the skill positions. Jon Fuchs and Anthony Cooper will be featured in the backfield at running back and quarterback respectfully.
The defensive side of the ball is in a similar boat. The "D" returns four starters from 2011 with senior Caleb Slay on the line and classmate Kyle Allison at linebacker.
"We will win if we don't turn the ball over and hurt ourselves," Coach Wells said.
