Cardinals prospects Taveras and Wong named to MLB Futures Game

SPRINGFIELD, MO - 2 of the St. Louis Cardinals' top prospects Oscar Taveras and Kolten Wong have been selected to play in the 2012 MLB Futures Game in Kansas City July 8th.

Taveras, who just turned 20, is a native of the Dominican Republic.  The Cardinals top position playing prospect and 3rd overall prospect is hitting .328 with 13 home runs and 47 rbi's this season at Double-A.

Wong was the Cardinals 1st round draft pick out of Hawaii in 2011.  The 21-year old is hitting .298 with 31 rbi's and 12 stolen bases while leading off in Springfield.

Both were selected to the 2012 Texas League All-Star Game in Tulsa June 30th.

The Futures Game will air live on ESPN 2 Sunday July 8th at 4:00 pm CT.
