ROGERSVILLE, MO - 2-time consecutive state champion Joe Zimmer signed his national letter of intent to wrestle at the Big 10's Nebraska Wednesday afternoon.

"It's definitely a college town (Lincoln)," said Zimmer.  "There's not professional sports and it's the state Capital.  It's Husker Nation up there.  There's definitely a lot of excitement, and I can't wait to be a part of it."

Zimmer capped his remarkable prep career with back-to-back undefeated state championship seasons (97-0), winning the 2012 class 2 195 pound state title in February.

"I haven't really seen my full potential yet, and I'm not really sure how far I can go before it's tapped.  That's another exciting part of it."

He was also the Class 3 Defensive Player of the Year for the state champ Rogersville football team, which he received interest from colleges for as well.

Originally from Minnesota, Zimmer said it was very much a family decision.  He chose Nebraska also for its academics (lead the nation in Academic All-Americans).  He plans to major in Pre-Med.

Zimmer chose Nebraska over interest from Mizzou and Stanford among others.
