ASH GROVE, MO - After originally signing with NAIA Central Methodist, Ash Grove high jumper Karter Moran has changed his college choice to Mizzou.
Moran won the class 2 state title last season with a jump of 6'7", but started receiving major attention from Missouri when he hit 6'9" earlier in the season.
Moran visited Columbia a couple times last month and after talking it over with his family decided it was the best fit.
"It was a hard choice, but I sat down with my parents and decided that it would be a better academic option, and the SEC is the toughest all around conference around," said Moran.
Despite having no formal training in high jump Moran showed the Mizzou coaches a great deal of potential.
"I'm looking forward to having a jump coach and getting on a college workout routine."
Moran has his work cut out competing in the SEC, but believes his best days are ahead.
"My goal is to hit 7 feet next year."
Moran hasn't officially signed, but will do so in the coming days. He begins class at Mizzou in mid August.
