Webb City's Williams commits to Mizzou Baseball

WEBB CITY, MO - Webb City multi-sport star Breckin Williams has made a late change to his college choice, committing to play baseball at Mizzou, after previously signing with Eastern Oklahoma Community College.

"I've been playing well this summer (Midwest Nationals) and gained the attention of some D-I schools," said Williams.

The 6'1", 185 pound right hander received offers from Kansas State and Penn State as well, but the Tigers proved to be a better financial option.

"Mizzou is going to the SEC next year and you just can't turn that down."

Williams will get a good chance to play right away, as the Tigers lost several pitchers in the draft.

"They need me to pitch, and possibly play 2-ways."

Williams, who was also the starting quarterback for the state champion Webb City football team, was 9-0 with a 1.30 ERA during his senior season, earning All-COC 1st team, All-District 1st Team, and All-Ozarks 1st team honors.  He is also ranked 19th in the state of Missouri by PrepBaseballReport.com.

Williams will officially sign on Monday night.

He joins Springfield Catholic pitcher Austin Tribby as Southwest Missouri residents headed to Columbia this fall.
