BRANSON, MO - Branson's Michaela Dapprich is a natural athlete.  On the basketball court, the senior scored over 1,300 points and in track and field; she's one of the state's top discus and shot put throwers.

"Michaela is just a great athlete, said Branson Track Coach Kevin Blackwell.  "She is an all around athlete.  She can do just about anything she wants to do."

Dapprich is signed to play basketball at Wichita State next year, but she also considered continuing her track and field career as well.

"I thought about it for awhile, but I like basketball a lot," said Dapprich.  "It's my favorite, so I picked that.

Michaela comes from a family of athletes.  Her mom was a standout at Parkview, and little sister Moriah has followed in her big sister's footsteps.  Both on the court and in the throwing circle.

"We both push each other, for us to both do our best."

And the sisters, just one year apart, have had some battles over the years.

"I don't like her beating me," said Moriah.  "We're very competitive.  It gets kind of mean I guess."

"I think there's a little competitiveness there.  They each want to beat the other one, but I think that helps in the long run."

Moriah is even considering following her big sister to Wichita State.

"I think it would be pretty cool.  It would be fun.  I'd always have someone to come with me.  I think it would be pretty neat."

But make no mistake, the sibling rivalry will continue.

"I would want my separate dorm and everything.  So she won't take my clothes."

Branson senior Michaela Dapprich is this week's Arby's High School Athlete of the Week.
