Pierce City's Whitehead takes football coaching job at Neosho

NEOSHO, MO - After two seasons as head football coach at Pierce City, Mac Whitehead is moving on.  Whitehead has accepted the offensive assistant position at Neosho where he will work under head coach Jerry Schoonover.

The decision to leave Pierce City, where he had a record of 14-8, was both for personal and professional reasons.

"Living in Seneca, I was looking to get back closer to home," said Whitehead.  "This is also a career move though.  Neosho is a Class 5 school and I'm looking forward to being apart of that level of football."

While he's excited to join the staff at Neosho, he also made it clear that he plans on being a head coach again in the future.

"I'll definitely be a head coach again," stated Whitehead.  "But working under Coach Schoonover will be very beneficial for me and I'm very excited about it."

Pierce City will begin looking for his replacement immediately.
