KSPR Prep Spotlight: Sam Hughes, Bolivar Wrestling

BOLIVAR, MO - Each week the KSPR Sports Team will give you an inside look at a local high school athlete.  This week we chat with Bolivar senior Sam Hughes.

Hughes is a 2-sport star for the Liberators wrestling and soccer teams. Outside of sports Sam does a lot of running, playing video games, and watching movies.

Favorite Athlete: "It's hard to say, because I don't watch much sports, but probably Iowa 125 Matt McDonough.

Favorite Move: "Step Brothers for sure"

Favorite Food: "Spicy, really, spicy, chicken wings, bone in"

Most Hated Athlete: "Mikey Taylor (professional skateboarder)

Favorite Team: "St. Louis Cardinals, even without Pujols"


"Hughes plans to go to college and see where that takes him, but first I want to win a state wrestling title," said Hughes.


Q: What would you like to accomplish before you leave high school?

A: Get a job and make some money!

Q: What is most unique about you?

A: I'm the only two sport athlete of my siblings.

Hughes is a 3-year varsity letterman in soccer and was a 2nd team all-state selection.  In wrestling he is a 4 year varsity letterman and is currently 16-1, ranked 2nd in the state in class 2.
