KSPR Prep Spotlight: Payton DeHart, Nixa Soccer

NIXA, MO - Each week the KSPR Sports Team gives you an inside look at a local high school athlete.  This week we chat with Nixa sophomore soccer player Payton DeHart.

Despite being one of the Lady Eagles younger players, Payton has become one of the programs top goal scorers.  As a freshman, Payton was named team "Rookie of the Year".  Most recently she was voted "Player of the Year" for her competitive soccer team Springfield Soccer Club U16 Girls.

Payton enjoys hanging out with her friends when she's not on the soccer field.

"I don't really have a favorite activity at school besides soccer, but my favorite subject is math," said DeHart.

Favorite Food - Mexican

Favorite Actor/Actress - Tina Fey by a long shot!

Favorite Team - Green Bay Packers

Favorite Soccer Team - Manchester United

Most Hated Athlete - Anybody that's a sore loser

 

Payton hopes to play for a D-1 Soccer program in college.

"It has been my dream since I was very little.  Soccer is what I love to do because I have fun playing it!  For my career I would like to go as far in soccer as i can but after soccer I want to enter law school and be a defense attorney."

Before leaving high school Payton would like to become Student Body President her senior year.  As for soccer?

"I would like to win state at least once, hopefully this year!"

Something people might not know about Payton is that she is very driven and grades are one of the most important things to her.

The Nixa girls open class 3 district 11 play next week.  The Lady Eagles open against rival Ozark Monday May 14th, 7:00 pm at Cooper Soccer Complex in Springfield.
